FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – NOVEMBER 7, 2022
Toronto, Ontario – Encouraged by the lack of available public tools for finding charitable and non-profit textile donation sites, the National Association for Charitable Textile Recycling (NACTR) launches the National Donation Site Locator for Canada, the first of its kind.

People donating their clothing and other household textiles can now search for their local ethical donation sites and immediately get the results. The list of over 3400 available donation sites across the country is provided by various NACTR member organizations. NACTR memberships are available to Canadian based organizations and must be registered charities or non-profit organizations. In the year 2021, NACTR members collectively diverted over 209 million pounds of textiles from ending up in the landfills. Anyone utilizing the locator to donate their textiles will be making a positive contribution to local charities and the environment.
“Our goal with launching the National Donation Site Locator is to make it easier for Canadians to find local places to donate textiles. Being charitable is a great Canadian trait, and our online tool helps connect individuals with their local charitable or non-profit donation site locations” said Tonny Colyn, President and Co-Founder of NACTR.
The National Association for Charitable Textile Recycling exists to unite Canadian charities and promote the positive social and environmental impacts of charitable textile reuse, recycling, and thrift retail. As a collaborative and progressive network, NACTR is working together towards a circular economy. The founding members are representatives from across Canada including Diabetes Canada, The Salvation Army Thrift Store, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Goodwill, and Development Disabilities Association.
